For a long time, like many new entrants to a new field, I did not think of the various marketing aspects of my writing venture. Slowly, I am getting to know more–learning more, testing out various theories and learning again. I have been on the lookout for various marketing data.

Recently, I came across the blog. They have a variety of infographics that are interesting read. Please note that not all data will be reflective of every person’s experience, there will be variations. So, if you are trying to incorporate changes based of the data of an infographic, be prepared to change it again if it does not work out so well. These are just like any other tool–might be a great fit for one and not so awesome for another.

This is one of the graphics I found informative and wanted to share here. From this, looks like my website is neutral with its black/blue coloring, which is a good thing. I updated a few buttons etc and will be monitoring the traffic pattern changes, if any.

While I do that, here are some fun facts, also courtesy

  1. 92.6% of people say the visual dimension is the #1 influencing factor affecting their purchase decision (over taste, smell, etc.).
  2. Studies suggest that people make a subconscious judgment about a product within 90 seconds of initial viewing. Up to 90% of that assessment is based on color alone.
  3. One study found that magazine readers recognize full-color ads 26% more often than black-and-white ads.
  4. Heinz changed the color of their signature ketchup from red to green and sold over 10 million bottles in the first 7 months, resulting in $23 million in sales.
