We Might Indeed Be Very Special

Last week, I came across this fantastic article on BBC – How weird is our Solar System?

It is a long and detailed article and it is a great read as well, so I think it’s best to link to it. However, I will give you the gist of it–our Solar system is seeming more and more like an oddball system. Sure, there are lots of planets in the universe. But as we learn more about them, the extraordinary nature of our system becomes clearer.

Obviously, when we are speaking of a bazillion stars out there, the chances of another quirky little system being out there is significant. But still, life of Earth might indeed be very unique and special and finding a similarly evolved planet might take a very long search.
