An anthology is a beast entirely different from an one author book. By nature and by definition, an anthology is coming together of variations, a vessel for writers of diverging interests and skills to mix together. There is only one thread that ties everything together–the theme.
The theme of the first anthology by Angstrom Press is–maybe you’ve guessed from the “running postman” image up top already–the mail. To be slightly more specific, it’s about how mail changes us in unexpected ways. The book comes out shortly and I’m excited for its release.
My piece in it is short. The story is named “Fragile” and although it is woven around the mail, it’s more about relationships and how they transform over time and change us with them. Tori, the central character, is a woman of the current times. Tough, feisty, and a fierce multitasker, Tori is the quintessential mom. But Tori is not infallible. She makes mistakes. The question is: does she have the guts to right her wrongs?
Set in a contemporary “everytown,” Fragile is a bit of a departure for me. I can’t do without elements of speculation but this veered into real life territory. Definitely was a fun diversion though. Can’t wait to share more, soon.
